Connect people already on your tree
Join existing leaves as parents, children, siblings, spouses, or partners.
Recorded with a sample family. AI-generated narration using Achernar. Your options depend on your role and family settings.
Let’s walk through it.
Choose an existing leaf
When both people are already on your tree, you can connect them without adding anyone again. Select one of their leaves, then choose Connect. This is useful when a relative was added before you knew where they belonged.
Read the relationship carefully
Choose the first person and the second person. Then read the sentence on the form: the first person is the second person’s selected relationship. For example, choose Parent when the first person is the second person’s mother or father.
Connect the whole family
Save the relationship, then add the other parent where appropriate. Spouses and partners have their own connection too. A full sibling relationship shares known parents; use a half sibling or other option when that is the accurate description. Do not guess missing parents.
Check the result
Return to the whole tree and check the connections. If a relationship needs correcting, open the person’s profile and look at Family connections. Your permissions follow your assigned branch. A family admin can help with relatives outside it.
